FAQs

How to store a pressure washer? ▼

To ensure the durability of your heavy duty pressure washer:

  • Empty the gas tank to prevent fuel from degrading or clogging the engine.
  • Empty the pump and hoses of any remaining water.
  • Perform necessary maintenance before storage.
  • Store in a dry area.
  • Cover.
What is a pressure washer? ▼

A power washer is a cleaning machine that uses a gasoline engine to power a high pressure water pump and nozzle. It's used to clean driveways, decks, vehicles, outdoor furniture and more by spraying water at high PSI to remove dirt, grime, mold and other debris. Many models also come with a detergent tank for added cleaning power.

How does a power washer work? ▼

A power washer works by drawing water from a connected hose and pumping it through a high pressure nozzle. The gas engine powers the pump which pressurizes the water and then expels it through the nozzle at high speed to clean the surface. The water pressure is measured in PSI (pounds per square inch) and the flow rate is measured in GPM (gallons per minute). Many models also feature adjustable water pressure settings to cater to different cleaning needs. BE makes pressure washing easy with models available for light jobs and heavy duty commercial cleaning projects.

Gas vs Electric power washers? ▼

The main difference is that a gas pressure washer, known for its cleaning power, is powered by a gasoline engine, making it more powerful and portable, while an electric pressure washer is powered by electricity and is generally quieter and lighter.

Gas pressure washers are for heavy duty and large areas due to their durability, whereas electric pressure washers are for smaller jobs.

Your BE electric pressure washer is perfect for smaller jobs and built for portability, and we offer a wide range of electric models. Included with our electric models is a long extension cord for use anywhere around your house.

What to consider? ▼

When choosing a gas pressure washer consider:

  • Pressure (PSI): More PSI means more cleaning power but also more potential for damaging delicate surfaces.
  • Flow Rate (GPM): More GPM means faster cleaning as more water is dispensed.
  • Engine Power: Bigger engines mean more durability and power.
  • Portability: Weight, handle design and wheel size for easier to move.
  • Nozzles: Multiple spray nozzles to adjust the spray pattern for different tasks.
  • Adjustable Nozzle: Allows for fine-tuning the spray intensity and pattern for various cleaning needs.
How much pressure do I need for? ▼

The required pressure (PSI) and cleaning power depend on the surface you're cleaning:

  • Light duty (car washing, outdoor furniture): 1,300-1,800 PSI.
  • Medium duty (patios, fences, decks): 2,000-3,000 PSI.
  • Heavy duty (driveways, brick walls, large equipment): 3,000+ PSI.

Many pressure washers come with adjustable pressure settings to handle different cleaning tasks effectively.

Can a pressure washing damage surfaces? ▼

Yes, a power washer can damage surfaces if used incorrectly. High pressure water can strip paint, dent soft surfaces or even cause structural damage if the pressure is too high or the nozzle is held too close to the surface. Always use the right PSI for the material you're cleaning and keep a safe distance from delicate surfaces.

To prevent damage, consider using a model with adjustable pressure settings.

How to maintain your pressure washer? ▼

To ensure the durability and smooth operation of a pressure washer:

  • Change the oil as per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Clean or replace the air filter to ensure good airflow.
  • Inspect and clean the nozzle regularly to prevent clogs.
  • Drain the gas tank if you're storing the washer for a long time.
  • Check the hoses for leaks or damage and replace them if needed.
  • Follow regular maintenance requirements to keep the washer in optimal condition.
Can I use a pressure washer in cold weather and low water temperature? ▼

You can use a pressure washer in cold weather but it's more difficult. The water flow rate in the hoses and pump can freeze and damage the equipment. If you plan to use your pressure washer in cold temperatures make sure to winterize it and store it in a warm area when not in use. You can also use anti-freeze solutions for pressure washers.

Some models are designed to use hot water, which can be particularly effective for cleaning in cold weather.

Not an oversized engine adding unnecessary weight but one properly matched to the pump requirements. The General triplex pump on this aluminum frame unit delivers consistent 3,100 PSI at 3.1 GPM for the residential and light commercial cleaning jobs this machine targets. Aluminum frame saves weight without sacrificing function.

The Honda GX200 low-oil shutdown protects the engine during longer jobs where checking oil between sessions is not practical.

R

3,100 PSI and 3.1 GPM covers the most common residential and light commercial cleaning scenarios: driveways, fencing, equipment, building exteriors, and decks. The General triplex pump on this unit is a meaningful upgrade from the axial pumps on consumer-grade machines at similar price points. Triplex pumps last significantly longer under regular use conditions.

The Honda GX200 OHV engine design delivers consistent fuel efficiency across the operating RPM range. Overhead valve configuration runs cooler and more efficiently than side-valve alternatives which extends engine life and reduces fuel consumption on longer jobs. Paired with the 3-year machine warranty and Honda's separate engine coverage this is a well-backed purchase.

The weight advantage of the aluminum frame over steel alternatives matters significantly when you are physically moving the unit between levels. Honda GX200 starts reliably first pull every time which matters when you are mid-job and need immediate restart.

The 50-foot steel-braided hose provides reach on building exteriors without repositioning. Good purchase!

I have used this for a full season of property maintenance work including concrete cleaning, deck washing, and equipment rinsing. The Honda GX200 has never failed to start and the General pump has maintained consistent pressure throughout. The aluminum frame looks as clean as delivery day with no corrosion at the joints or water exposure points.

The four quick-connect nozzles covering 15, 25, 40 degrees and soap handle every surface type I encounter in property maintenance work. The quick-connect system is genuinely quick even mid-job with water still flowing through the system. The adjustable soap injector applies detergent at the correct downstream pressure so it does not interfere with pump function.

Compared the B3165HAGS against the steel frame version of the same pump and engine configuration. For my use case of frequent transport and outdoor storage the aluminum frame corrosion resistance over a 5-year horizon outweighs the slightly higher upfront cost of the aluminum model. The Honda GX200 engine is identical across both configurations.

The thermal relief valve on the General pump releases built-up heat if the unit runs unattended with the trigger closed. This has saved the pump on at least two occasions when I got called away from a job unexpectedly. The valve requires no user action and resets automatically. For a contractor doing multiple jobs in a day that passive protection matters.

C

The Honda GX200 large fuel tank extends runtime between refueling stops. On a long driveway or large deck cleaning job stopping to refuel mid-task is a frustration this tank size helps avoid. Combined with the 3.1 GPM flow rate the cleaning pace on this unit keeps jobs moving efficiently.

S

The aluminum frame and Honda engine combination gives us equipment that is professional in quality without the cost of top-tier commercial units we do not yet need at our volume.

B
Brady N.

The direct drive system with no belt means fewer service points and a more compact overall unit footprint. The 36-inch insulated wand assembly included with this unit keeps operators comfortable through full job sessions. Steel-braided 50-foot hose has not kinked or developed leaks across multiple seasons of regular use.

C
Chelsea T.

For a contractor buying a primary piece of equipment the warranty coverage matters as much as the unit specifications. Parts availability through BE's dealer network and Honda's service network means warranty claims are actually resolvable.

G
Garrett K.

Easy starting reduces operator frustration and the low-oil protection prevents damage when the unit is not carefully monitored during extended jobs. The aluminum frame ensures the unit is still structurally sound when the engine eventually needs service.

T
Tiffany S.

We originally wanted something compact for trailer space reasons, but this washer still delivers plenty of cleaning power for serious jobs.

L
Logan B.

We purchased the B3165HAGS mainly for property maintenance and equipment cleaning, and it’s been a very dependable machine so far.

Good pressure output, reliable startup, and much easier to maneuver than some larger commercial units we considered.

C
Connor F.

One thing I appreciate is how straightforward the machine feels. No unnecessary complexity, just dependable pressure and easy operation.

B
Brandon T.

I run a small landscaping and exterior maintenance business, so dependable equipment matters a lot because downtime affects scheduling immediately.

After several months using the B3165HAGS, I’ve been very satisfied overall.
