FAQs

How to store a pressure washer? ▼

To ensure the durability of your heavy duty pressure washer:

  • Empty the gas tank to prevent fuel from degrading or clogging the engine.
  • Empty the pump and hoses of any remaining water.
  • Perform necessary maintenance before storage.
  • Store in a dry area.
  • Cover.
What is a pressure washer? ▼

A power washer is a cleaning machine that uses a gasoline engine to power a high pressure water pump and nozzle. It's used to clean driveways, decks, vehicles, outdoor furniture and more by spraying water at high PSI to remove dirt, grime, mold and other debris. Many models also come with a detergent tank for added cleaning power.

How does a power washer work? ▼

A power washer works by drawing water from a connected hose and pumping it through a high pressure nozzle. The gas engine powers the pump which pressurizes the water and then expels it through the nozzle at high speed to clean the surface. The water pressure is measured in PSI (pounds per square inch) and the flow rate is measured in GPM (gallons per minute). Many models also feature adjustable water pressure settings to cater to different cleaning needs. BE makes pressure washing easy with models available for light jobs and heavy duty commercial cleaning projects.

Gas vs Electric power washers? ▼

The main difference is that a gas pressure washer, known for its cleaning power, is powered by a gasoline engine, making it more powerful and portable, while an electric pressure washer is powered by electricity and is generally quieter and lighter.

Gas pressure washers are for heavy duty and large areas due to their durability, whereas electric pressure washers are for smaller jobs.

Your BE electric pressure washer is perfect for smaller jobs and built for portability, and we offer a wide range of electric models. Included with our electric models is a long extension cord for use anywhere around your house.

What to consider? ▼

When choosing a gas pressure washer consider:

  • Pressure (PSI): More PSI means more cleaning power but also more potential for damaging delicate surfaces.
  • Flow Rate (GPM): More GPM means faster cleaning as more water is dispensed.
  • Engine Power: Bigger engines mean more durability and power.
  • Portability: Weight, handle design and wheel size for easier to move.
  • Nozzles: Multiple spray nozzles to adjust the spray pattern for different tasks.
  • Adjustable Nozzle: Allows for fine-tuning the spray intensity and pattern for various cleaning needs.
How much pressure do I need for? ▼

The required pressure (PSI) and cleaning power depend on the surface you're cleaning:

  • Light duty (car washing, outdoor furniture): 1,300-1,800 PSI.
  • Medium duty (patios, fences, decks): 2,000-3,000 PSI.
  • Heavy duty (driveways, brick walls, large equipment): 3,000+ PSI.

Many pressure washers come with adjustable pressure settings to handle different cleaning tasks effectively.

Can a pressure washing damage surfaces? ▼

Yes, a power washer can damage surfaces if used incorrectly. High pressure water can strip paint, dent soft surfaces or even cause structural damage if the pressure is too high or the nozzle is held too close to the surface. Always use the right PSI for the material you're cleaning and keep a safe distance from delicate surfaces.

To prevent damage, consider using a model with adjustable pressure settings.

How to maintain your pressure washer? ▼

To ensure the durability and smooth operation of a pressure washer:

  • Change the oil as per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Clean or replace the air filter to ensure good airflow.
  • Inspect and clean the nozzle regularly to prevent clogs.
  • Drain the gas tank if you're storing the washer for a long time.
  • Check the hoses for leaks or damage and replace them if needed.
  • Follow regular maintenance requirements to keep the washer in optimal condition.
Can I use a pressure washer in cold weather and low water temperature? ▼

You can use a pressure washer in cold weather but it's more difficult. The water flow rate in the hoses and pump can freeze and damage the equipment. If you plan to use your pressure washer in cold temperatures make sure to winterize it and store it in a warm area when not in use. You can also use anti-freeze solutions for pressure washers.

Some models are designed to use hot water, which can be particularly effective for cleaning in cold weather.

Running a pressure washing business means needing equipment that starts every morning and does not quit by noon. The Honda GX390 on this unit pulls through on both counts. The pull-start with auto-decompression fires it up consistently and the General EZ4040 triplex pump with ceramic-coated plungers holds pressure through full jobs without drifting. The 50-foot steel-braided hose gives enough reach on commercial driveways without repositioning the unit. Three-year machine warranty sealed it for me.

The direct drive setup is compact and eliminates belt maintenance entirely. I use this for fleet washing twice a week and the external unloader keeps the pump cool during the idle cycles between vehicles. Thermal release valve has kicked in once during a long pause and did exactly what it is supposed to do. Nothing seized, nothing overheated. The 12-inch flat-free tires roll over our gravel lot without complaint.

4,200 PSI and 4.2 GPM from a direct-drive Honda GX390 at this price is genuinely hard to beat. The adjustable downstream soap injector lets me switch between detergent and rinse without swapping anything. Quick-connect nozzles click in clean every time and the 36-inch insulated wand keeps my hands comfortable during longer sessions. Powder-coated steel hand-cart frame has taken job site knocks and looks fine.

Used this for concrete prep on a commercial renovation project. 4,200 PSI moved paint, oil stains, and curing compound off a 10,000-square-foot slab over four days of work. The large capacity fuel tank meant fewer refuel stops and the automatic low-oil shutdown is the kind of protection you want on a piece of equipment that is running all day. Shipping weight came in at 147 lbs and it delivered undamaged.

The four quick-connect nozzles cover every cleaning scenario I run into including the 0-degree for stubborn staining. Honda engine warranty handled separately through Honda is standard and worth registering.

My previous unit had an axial pump and it wore out inside two years of contractor use. Switching to the B4213HGS and the General triplex was the right call. Triplex design means longer service intervals and more consistent pressure output across a full tank. The 34-by-25-by-42-inch unit footprint is manageable on a truck bed with a tailgate extender.

The 4.2 GPM flow rate paired with 4,200 PSI cleans large equipment surfaces faster than any unit I previously owned under this price point. External unloader is correctly specified here since it provides better pump cooling versus internal unloader designs during extended bypass cycles. Oil funnel comes in the box which is a small but genuinely practical inclusion.

Used the soap nozzle and adjustable downstream injector for a soft wash on stucco. The combination worked cleanly without over-pressuring the surface and the 40-degree nozzle for rinsing left no streaks. The Honda GX390 runs at a noise level that is commercial but not disruptive to nearby workers.

Property maintenance crew here. We run this against a competing 4,000 PSI unit on split jobs and the B4213HGS finishes its sections faster due to the slightly higher output. The powder-coated steel frame has held up through rain exposure and trailer transport without rusting. The integrated accessory storage hooks keep the gun and nozzles from rattling loose during transport.

The automatic low-oil shutdown is the feature that made me comfortable running this unsupervised during wash-and-walk jobs. Engine protection that kicks in before damage occurs is the right design for contractors who cannot watch the machine every minute. The steel-braided hose feels substantially different from the rubber hoses on lower-tier units and shows no kinking after repeated coiling.

Bought this to replace a consumer-grade unit that could not handle the cleaning pace of our small landscaping operation. The Honda GX390 commercial engine distinction over residential engines is real in everyday use. Consistent starting, consistent pressure, consistent runtime. The 3-year machine warranty with the Honda engine covered separately gives two layers of manufacturer backing.

The 36-inch insulated trigger gun is longer than most competitor wands which translates to less bending on horizontal surfaces like driveways and parking lots. The quick-connect system for nozzle changes works smoothly even with gloves on. Unit dimensions of 34 by 25 by 42 inches are workable for a standard truck toolbox or trailer compartment.

Concrete and surface prep contractor. The 0-degree nozzle at 4,200 PSI cuts through oil staining effectively and the 15-degree tip handles rust and paint removal cleanly. Thermal release valve on the General EZ4040 pump is a real feature not just a spec point. Left the gun trigger closed for 10 minutes accidentally and came back to the valve having released. Pump was fine.

I specifically needed the external unloader configuration for extended commercial work. Internal unloaders recirculate hot water back into the pump which builds heat over long idle cycles. The external unloader on the B4213HGS dumps to ground on bypass which keeps the pump temperature stable during the pauses between cleaning sections. Worth understanding before you buy any commercial pressure washer.

ETL, CSA, and EPA certified is the spec set that tells you BE Power takes compliance seriously. For contractors working on municipal contracts or commercial property that requires certified equipment, this matters beyond just performance. The Honda GX390 and General EZ4040 combination is an industry-standard pairing for a reason. Reliable, serviceable, and genuinely backed by warranty.

The biggest thing I noticed compared to cheaper washers is consistency. The pressure stays steady during longer jobs, the engine starts reliably, and the machine feels stable while moving around rougher outdoor areas.

It’s also a good balance size-wise. Strong enough for serious cleaning work, but not so oversized that transporting it between jobs becomes frustrating.
