Warranty

Warranty
Warranty basics
Challenger Lifts, Inc. (CLI) warrants its lifts to the original owner only; the coverage is not transferable. CLI will, at its discretion, repair or replace any part that is found on inspection to be defective during the applicable warranty period. Coverage applies only when the lift is installed, operated, and maintained in line with CLI's installation, operation, and maintenance instructions. Using unapproved parts or accessories voids the warranty, as does any repair attempted by someone who is not a CLI authorized service representative. Normal maintenance, adjustments, wear and tear, and damage from improper handling, abuse, misuse, or negligence are not covered. The warranty is valid only if the lift is registered with Challenger Lifts; registration must be completed online (challengerlifts.com/register-your-lift), otherwise the warranty period begins from the invoice date of purchase.
Warranty length
5 years on structural parts, 2 years on functional parts, and 1 year on labor. Structural parts include the carriage, columns, column extensions, overhead beams, arms, cross beams, runways, wheel stops, ramps, bolsters, sync rails, and plungers. Functional parts include power units, cylinders, sheaves, sheave pins, hoses, hydraulic and pneumatic fittings, cables, adapters, latches, valves, and controls.
Remedies and costs
Repair or replacement of defective parts is the exclusive remedy under this warranty. For the covered period, CLI also pays reasonable transportation and/or labor costs to replace those parts. This warranty is exclusive and replaces all other warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, which is expressly excluded. No employee, agent, dealer, or other party may extend warranties on CLI's behalf. CLI is not liable for special, consequential, or incidental damages arising from any breach or delay in performance of the warranty. The warranty is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jefferson County, Kentucky.

FAQs

What is the lifting capacity of the Challenger CL12A? ▾
The Challenger CL12A has a rated lifting capacity of 12,000 lb across all model variants (CL12A, CL12A-1, CL12A-2, and CL12A-LC). This capacity is ALI Certified, meaning it has been independently tested and verified to meet Automotive Lift Institute standards.
What ceiling height do I need for the CL12A? ▾
Ceiling height requirements vary by model: The standard CL12A requires 14' 3" minimum, the CL12A-1 requires 15' 3" minimum, and the CL12A-2 requires 16' 3" minimum. For shops with lower ceilings, the CL12A-LC low-ceiling model requires only 12' minimum ceiling height while maintaining the full 12,000 lb capacity.
What electrical power does the CL12A require? ▾
The CL12A operates on 208-230V, 60Hz, single-phase power with a 2HP motor. A dedicated circuit is required. Have a licensed electrician verify your electrical supply meets specifications before installation.
Can I install the CL12A myself? ▾
While DIY installation is technically possible for experienced individuals, professional installation by an ALI-certified technician is strongly recommended. Proper installation ensures safe operation, full warranty coverage, and compliance with local codes. Contact us for installer referrals in your area.
What comes standard with the CL12A? ▾
The CL12A includes two lift columns with carriages, 3-stage front and rear arms, telescoping screw pads, Stack Adapter Kits (P/N 10315), 2HP power unit, hydraulic hoses and fittings, overhead safety shutoff, anchor hardware, and installation manual. The Stack Adapter Kits are included standard for versatile vehicle positioning.
How is the CL12A shipped and delivered? ▾
The CL12A ships via freight truck with free shipping to commercial addresses in the 48 contiguous US states. Curbside delivery is standard. You will need a forklift with minimum 5,000 lb capacity to unload. Liftgate service is available for an additional fee if no forklift is available. Always inspect shipments for damage before signing.
Can the CL12A lift electric vehicles? ▾
Yes, the CL12A is designed with electric vehicles in mind. The 3-stage arms with 59" maximum reach and symmetric configuration accommodate wider EVs. For optimal EV service, Challenger offers the optional TFPK footpad kit specifically designed for electric vehicle lifting points and battery pack clearance.
What is the difference between the CL12A and CL12A-LC? ▾
The CL12A-LC is the low-ceiling version of the CL12A. It has the same 12,000 lb capacity, arm configuration, and width adjustments, but with a reduced column height of 11' 11" requiring only 12' minimum ceiling height. The rise height is slightly reduced to 80.75" compared to 84.75" on the standard model. Rise time is also slightly faster at approximately 60 seconds.
What concrete requirements does the CL12A have? ▾
The CL12A requires a minimum 4" thick reinforced concrete floor with 3,000 PSI compressive strength. The concrete must be fully cured and in good condition. Post-tension slabs, hollow-core construction, or floors over basements may require engineering evaluation. Refer to the installation manual for anchor bolt locations specific to your chosen width configuration.
What colors is the CL12A available in? ▾
The Challenger CL12A is available in three color options: Red, Blue, and Black. Select your preferred color when ordering. Color availability may vary; contact us to confirm current stock.
How long does the CL12A take to reach full height? ▾
The CL12A reaches full rise height in approximately 63 seconds under normal operating conditions. The CL12A-LC low-ceiling model is slightly faster at approximately 60 seconds due to its reduced rise height.
