Hydraulic Powered Telescoping Forklift Lift Boom — Power-Operated Extension for High-Volume Industrial Lifting (8,000 lb)
The Vestil LM-HBE Hydraulic Powered Telescoping Forklift Lift Boom is the productivity upgrade of Vestil's standard LM-1T manual telescoping boom — replacing manual hand extension with hydraulic power, eliminating operator labor on every reach adjustment, and dramatically increasing throughput for high-volume lifting operations. With 8,000 lb load capacity, 24" fork pocket center, two included lifting hooks, and your choice of two power configurations (self-contained DC battery or forklift truck-powered hydraulic), this boom is engineered for operations that need rapid, repeated reach changes: high-volume warehouses, busy manufacturing operations, construction sites with variable load distances, heavy maintenance shops, government and military logistics, auto body shops handling frequent engine swaps, rental fleet operations offering premium-tier equipment, and HVAC contractors managing rooftop installations.
Why Powered Extension Matters: Manual telescoping booms require operators to physically pull out or push in the boom for each reach change — a slow, labor-intensive process that becomes a real productivity bottleneck for operations making 50+ lifts per shift. The LM-HBE solves this by motorizing the extension/retraction with hydraulic power. Operators control reach via either a hand-held controller (DC variant) or the forklift's existing hydraulic controls (TP variant) — extension happens in seconds, not minutes, and operators stay at the forklift's controls instead of repeatedly dismounting to manually adjust the boom. The throughput gain typically pays back the premium price within months for high-volume operations.
Choose Your Power Source — Two Distinct Configurations:
-
LM-1T-8-24-HBE-DC (12V DC Battery, Self-Contained): Self-contained power unit housed between the fork tubes and the outer boom. Hand-held controller connects to the power unit via pigtail cord — operator presses buttons to extend or retract the boom. Works with ANY forklift (no auxiliary hydraulic requirement). Best for: forklifts WITHOUT aux hydraulics, operators who want simple plug-and-play, rental fleets serving diverse customers. Onboard battery requires charging and eventual replacement.
-
LM-1T-8-24-HBE-TP (Forklift Truck-Powered Hydraulic): Connects via hydraulic hoses to your forklift's existing auxiliary hydraulic port. Boom extension/retraction is powered by the forklift's hydraulic pump, controlled via the forklift's existing aux hydraulic controls. Requires forklift WITH auxiliary hydraulic port. No battery to maintain. Best for: forklifts already equipped with aux hydraulics, operators who prefer integrated controls, low-maintenance fleet operations. Lower net weight (90 lbs lighter than DC variant) and lower lost load (100 lbs better than DC variant).
⚠️ Critical Specification — Maximum Movable Load (2,000 lbs): The boom can LIFT loads up to its rated 8,000 lb capacity, but the boom can only be EXTENDED OR RETRACTED UNDER POWER with loads up to 2,000 lbs on the hook. For loads heavier than 2,000 lbs, operators must position the boom at the desired reach BEFORE attaching the load, then lift. Attempting to extend or retract the boom with loads exceeding 2,000 lbs may damage the hydraulic system. This is a significant operational consideration — plan your workflow around this limit. Manual LM-1T booms have no such limit but require manual extension labor.
Lost Load — Calculate Your Effective Capacity: Lost Load is the weight the boom itself "consumes" from your forklift's lifting capacity. The DC variant has 815 lbs of lost load (heavier due to onboard battery and motor). The TP variant has 715 lbs of lost load (lighter — no onboard battery). If your forklift is rated for 10,000 lbs at the load center, attaching the DC version effectively gives you ~9,185 lbs of effective lifting at the boom hook before any load center derating, while the TP version gives you ~9,285 lbs. Factor this into your purchase decision alongside the 8,000 lb boom capacity.
Premium Build Quality: Both variants feature heavy-gauge structural steel construction with AWS-welded joints (American Welding Society standards) — same premium build as the standard LM-1T manual telescoping series. The painted powder coat finish provides industrial durability and abrasion resistance during repeated boom extension cycles. Two integrated lifting hooks at the boom end allow flexible single-point or spread-load rigging.
⚠️ Fork Pocket Center — 24" Only: The LM-HBE series ships exclusively in the 24" fork pocket center configuration (the most common forklift fork spread). Verify your forklift's fork pocket center matches 24" before ordering. If your forklift has a different fork spread (11", 30", 36"), consider our manual LM-1T series (which offers all four fork pocket center options) or contact us about Vestil's custom fabrication program for non-standard configurations.
Custom Fork Pocket Sizes Available: Standard fork pocket dimensions ship with each boom. Alternative fork pocket sizes (8.25" × 4.25", 7" × 3", or 9" × 3") are available — contact us before ordering to specify your forklift's fork dimensions and we'll configure the boom to match.
⚠️ TP Variant Requirement — Auxiliary Hydraulics: The Truck-Powered (TP) variant REQUIRES your forklift to have an auxiliary hydraulic port. If your forklift does not have aux hydraulics, the TP variant cannot operate. Verify your forklift's hydraulic capability before ordering the TP version, or choose the DC variant which works with any forklift.
⚠️ Load Center Safety Notice: NEVER EXCEED LOAD CENTER RATING PER FORKLIFT MANUFACTURER'S GUIDELINES. Adding any attachment shifts the load center forward, reducing the forklift's effective capacity. As the boom extends, the load center moves further forward — operators must reduce load weight accordingly. Consult your forklift's load center capacity chart before purchase and during operation.
