High Rise Non-Telescoping Forklift Lift Boom — Elevated Hook Height for Above-Grade Lifting
The Vestil LM-HRNT High Rise Non-Telescoping Lift Boom is the specialty tool for vertical-access lifting — adding significant elevation to your forklift's lifting hook BEFORE the forklift mast lifts. Where standard fork-pocket booms position the lifting hook at roughly fork-tip height, the High Rise boom's structural design elevates the hook above fork level, dramatically extending your effective lifting height for above-grade applications: mezzanine installation and stocking, high-bay warehouse rack loading, HVAC rooftop unit installations, building maintenance work, industrial equipment installation at height, sign and billboard installation, telecom equipment mounting, manufacturing line overhead installations, and any operation requiring elevated lifting that exceeds the forklift mast's reach alone.
Why High Rise vs Standard Lift Booms: Standard forklift booms (LM-1NT, LM-1T) extend the load HORIZONTALLY from the forklift but don't add meaningful vertical reach beyond the forklift's mast height. The LM-HRNT adds the vertical dimension — the lifting hook is positioned significantly above the forks, so when combined with the forklift's mast lift, you achieve substantially greater overall lift height. This makes high-bay racking, mezzanine work, and overhead equipment installation possible with a standard forklift instead of requiring specialized telehandlers, scissor lifts, or rented cranes. The trade-off: heavier boom construction needed to support the elevated hook geometry (this LM-HRNT series weighs roughly 2x its standard LM-1NT equivalent), which impacts the forklift's effective capacity through increased lost load.
Non-Telescoping = Fixed Reach for Known Distances: The LM-HRNT is the non-telescoping variant — meaning the boom reach is fixed at the configuration you order. Non-telescoping booms have fewer mechanical components, lower cost, lighter weight, and longer service life than telescoping equivalents. They're the right choice for predictable above-grade lifting at consistent distances: regular mezzanine restocking, repeated rooftop unit installations, or operations where the lift distance is always approximately the same. If your above-grade operation needs variable reach for different load distances, see our telescoping LM-HRT listing instead.
Choose Your Configuration — Two Critical Decisions:
-
Capacity (4,000 / 6,000 lb): Match to your forklift's de-rated capacity at the load center — NOT to your forklift's nameplate rating. Adding any boom dramatically shifts the load center forward and upward, reducing the forklift's effective capacity. Note: 8,000 lb capacity is NOT offered in the High Rise series due to engineering constraints of the elevated geometry. Buyers needing 8K capacity should consider the standard LM-1NT/LM-1T series at fork height instead.
-
Fork Pocket Center (24" / 30" / 36"): The distance between the center of your forklift's two forks. This MUST match your forklift's actual fork spread. Measure your forklift's fork spread (center of one fork to center of the other) before ordering. Note: 11" fork pocket center is NOT offered in the High Rise series — narrow-fork forklifts should use the standard LM-1NT series instead.
Premium Construction Required for Elevated Geometry: The LM-HRNT features heavy-gauge structural steel construction with AWS-welded joints (American Welding Society standards) — the elevated hook design demands the same premium construction as the standard LM-1NT line, not the lighter-gauge economy construction. The safety blue powder coat finish provides industrial durability and high visibility for safety during operation at elevated lift points. Two integrated lifting hooks at the boom end allow flexible rigging — use one for centered lifts, both for spread loads. The included safety restraint physically secures the boom to the forklift carriage, preventing accidental dislodging during operation.
⚠️ Heavy Boom Weight — Lost Load Impact: High Rise booms weigh 889-954 lbs per SKU — roughly 2x the weight of equivalent standard LM-1NT configurations. This significantly increases the "lost load" your forklift must carry before lifting the actual cargo. Factor this into your forklift capacity calculations. Installation typically requires a second forklift or overhead hoist to mount and dismount the boom — verify your operation has appropriate equipment before purchase.
⚠️ Ceiling Clearance Consideration: The elevated hook adds vertical height even before the forklift raises the mast. Operators must account for the added boom height when planning ceiling clearance, doorway clearance during transport, and overhead obstacle avoidance. Verify your work areas have sufficient overhead clearance for the elevated boom geometry plus your lift travel distance.
Custom Fork Pocket Sizes Available: Standard fork pocket dimensions ship with each boom. Alternative fork pocket sizes (8.25" × 4.25", 7" × 3", or 9" × 3") are available — contact us before ordering to specify your forklift's fork dimensions and we'll configure the boom to match.
⚠️ Critical Fit Requirement: Verify your forklift's fork pocket center (the distance from center of one fork to center of the other) matches the boom you order. Custom dimensions are available via Vestil's custom fabrication program — contact us if your forklift has non-standard fork spread or other specialty requirements.
⚠️ Load Center Safety Notice: NEVER EXCEED LOAD CENTER RATING PER FORKLIFT MANUFACTURER'S GUIDELINES. Adding any attachment shifts the load center forward, reducing the forklift's effective capacity. High Rise booms shift the load center BOTH forward AND upward — derating is more severe than horizontal-only attachments. Consult your forklift's load center capacity chart before purchase and during operation.
