FAQs

How to store a pressure washer? ▼

To ensure the durability of your heavy duty pressure washer:

  • Empty the gas tank to prevent fuel from degrading or clogging the engine.
  • Empty the pump and hoses of any remaining water.
  • Perform necessary maintenance before storage.
  • Store in a dry area.
  • Cover.
What is a pressure washer? ▼

A power washer is a cleaning machine that uses a gasoline engine to power a high pressure water pump and nozzle. It's used to clean driveways, decks, vehicles, outdoor furniture and more by spraying water at high PSI to remove dirt, grime, mold and other debris. Many models also come with a detergent tank for added cleaning power.

How does a power washer work? ▼

A power washer works by drawing water from a connected hose and pumping it through a high pressure nozzle. The gas engine powers the pump which pressurizes the water and then expels it through the nozzle at high speed to clean the surface. The water pressure is measured in PSI (pounds per square inch) and the flow rate is measured in GPM (gallons per minute). Many models also feature adjustable water pressure settings to cater to different cleaning needs. BE makes pressure washing easy with models available for light jobs and heavy duty commercial cleaning projects.

Gas vs Electric power washers? ▼

The main difference is that a gas pressure washer, known for its cleaning power, is powered by a gasoline engine, making it more powerful and portable, while an electric pressure washer is powered by electricity and is generally quieter and lighter.

Gas pressure washers are for heavy duty and large areas due to their durability, whereas electric pressure washers are for smaller jobs.

Your BE electric pressure washer is perfect for smaller jobs and built for portability, and we offer a wide range of electric models. Included with our electric models is a long extension cord for use anywhere around your house.

What to consider? ▼

When choosing a gas pressure washer consider:

  • Pressure (PSI): More PSI means more cleaning power but also more potential for damaging delicate surfaces.
  • Flow Rate (GPM): More GPM means faster cleaning as more water is dispensed.
  • Engine Power: Bigger engines mean more durability and power.
  • Portability: Weight, handle design and wheel size for easier to move.
  • Nozzles: Multiple spray nozzles to adjust the spray pattern for different tasks.
  • Adjustable Nozzle: Allows for fine-tuning the spray intensity and pattern for various cleaning needs.
How much pressure do I need for? ▼

The required pressure (PSI) and cleaning power depend on the surface you're cleaning:

  • Light duty (car washing, outdoor furniture): 1,300-1,800 PSI.
  • Medium duty (patios, fences, decks): 2,000-3,000 PSI.
  • Heavy duty (driveways, brick walls, large equipment): 3,000+ PSI.

Many pressure washers come with adjustable pressure settings to handle different cleaning tasks effectively.

Can a pressure washing damage surfaces? ▼

Yes, a power washer can damage surfaces if used incorrectly. High pressure water can strip paint, dent soft surfaces or even cause structural damage if the pressure is too high or the nozzle is held too close to the surface. Always use the right PSI for the material you're cleaning and keep a safe distance from delicate surfaces.

To prevent damage, consider using a model with adjustable pressure settings.

How to maintain your pressure washer? ▼

To ensure the durability and smooth operation of a pressure washer:

  • Change the oil as per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Clean or replace the air filter to ensure good airflow.
  • Inspect and clean the nozzle regularly to prevent clogs.
  • Drain the gas tank if you're storing the washer for a long time.
  • Check the hoses for leaks or damage and replace them if needed.
  • Follow regular maintenance requirements to keep the washer in optimal condition.
Can I use a pressure washer in cold weather and low water temperature? ▼

You can use a pressure washer in cold weather but it's more difficult. The water flow rate in the hoses and pump can freeze and damage the equipment. If you plan to use your pressure washer in cold temperatures make sure to winterize it and store it in a warm area when not in use. You can also use anti-freeze solutions for pressure washers.

Some models are designed to use hot water, which can be particularly effective for cleaning in cold weather.

The 10 HP Baldor motor is the specification that makes this unit a serious commercial electric pressure washer. Baldor is the industrial motor standard and 10 HP provides the continuous-duty power required for sustained 3,000 PSI at 4.5 GPM without motor thermal stress. For a shop or facility installation running this unit across full work shifts the Baldor motor is the right choice.

Once properly wired the operational simplicity of an electric commercial washer is significant: no fuel, no oil changes on the engine, no exhaust, no cold-weather starting issues. The 4.5 GPM at 3,000 PSI output matches serious commercial use cases

For a fixed commercial installation where service accessibility matters the direct drive's reduced component count makes maintenance straightforward. The powder-coated steel frame with accessory storage and 12-inch flat-free tires handles the indoor commercial environment correctly.

The CP triplex pump with the external unloader set to dump-to-ground bypass provides correct pump cooling during the trigger-off periods that characterize commercial cleaning operations. On a 10 HP electric unit running all day the thermal management during pause cycles determines pump longevity as much as the operation cycles do. This configuration handles it correctly

The powder-coated steel frame is built to the scale that a 10 HP motor and triplex pump system requires. Nothing on this unit feels undersized relative to the motor and pump specifications

Commercial vehicle wash bay installation. The Baldor motor's energy efficiency compared to less efficient commercial motor options reduces electrical operating cost across a high-frequency use installation. Combined with no fuel cost the total operating cost of this electric unit over five years compares favorably to gas alternatives with equivalent output.

The 4.5 GPM flow rate combined with 3,000 PSI places this unit at the high end of fixed commercial electric pressure washers. The additional flow volume compared to lower-GPM electric units significantly reduces the time required to rinse large equipment, concrete surfaces, and fleet vehicles. The Baldor motor delivers the sustained power to maintain that output without reduction across commercial work hours.

Industrial sanitation contractor here. We installed this in a processing facility where combustion engines are not permitted. The Baldor electric motor meets facility electrical equipment standards and the 3,000 PSI output handles equipment and structural sanitation between production shifts. The high-pressure hose, spray gun, and nozzles included in the box provided immediate operational capability after installation.

The optional auto start/stop switch part number 85.503.011 that activates the unit when the trigger is squeezed and shuts it down when released is an important accessory for high-frequency commercial use. Continuous motor run during operator pauses wastes electricity and adds unnecessary operating hours. Installing this switch makes the unit operate correctly as a demand-driven commercial system.

The ceramic-coated plungers in the CP triplex pump resist the abrasion and thermal cycling that wears out standard plungers faster. Forged brass manifold handles the pressure cycling and temperature exposure correctly. The thermal release valve automatically activates if pump temperature exceeds operating limits. These pump specifications reflect equipment designed for daily commercial service life.

High-pressure hose, spray gun wand, and spray nozzles all included in the box means immediate commissioning after electrical installation is complete. No sourcing additional accessories before first use. The 12-inch flat-free tires roll on sealed commercial floors and across the connections and drains that characterize industrial wash bay environments.

D

The Baldor motor's energy efficiency specification matters on a fixed commercial installation where electricity cost is a real operational expense. A less efficient motor at the same horsepower draws more current and generates more heat, both of which increase operating cost and reduce motor life. Baldor motors are specified for efficiency and long service in continuous-duty commercial applications.

The external unloader on this unit can be set to dump-to-ground bypass to maximize pump cooling when the trigger is not engaged. This is the correct configuration for commercial applications where operators pause between cleaning sections. Pump bypass heat is the leading cause of seal failure on pressure washers used commercially. The dump-to-ground configuration dissipates that heat correctly.

A
Adrian F.

At 10 HP the Baldor motor provides power headroom above the steady-state requirement of the 3,000 PSI 4.5 GPM output. That headroom means the motor does not operate near its thermal limit during sustained use. Commercial motors running at their thermal limit fail faster. Operating with power headroom extends motor service life significantly on a fixed commercial installation.

S
Shelby P.

The complete accessory set included in the box means a qualified electrician can install the unit and hand it to operators ready for immediate use. No secondary purchase, no waiting for accessories. The pressure gun wand assembly, nozzles, and high-pressure hose are commercial specifications matched to the 3,000 PSI 4.5 GPM output, not consumer accessories adapted to a commercial pump.
