What are Upper Components and how do they differ from a completion kit? ▾
Upper Components (UC) include everything that goes above the pre-kit foundation: the completion kit (8-1/2" chrome pistons, 2 HP power unit, standard wall-mounted controls, hydraulic and pneumatic hardware) and the XP9 superstructure (drive-on express pads with flip-up ramps, synchronizing rail, center cover plate) combined in a single order. A completion kit alone includes only the hydraulic and power components without the XP9 superstructure. Ordering the UC package simplifies procurement by consolidating both component groups into one SKU.
What do I still need to purchase separately? ▾
The only additional Challenger component required is the EV1020 CSPK-series pre-kit foundation, which provides the below-grade sealed recycled polymer cassette tub and structural frame. Once the pre-kit is installed in a properly constructed concrete pit, this UC package supplies everything else needed for a complete 9,000 lb inground lift with XP9 express pads. Site infrastructure including concrete work, electrical wiring, compressed air supply, hydraulic hose, and installation labor must also be furnished separately.
What lift system is this package compatible with? ▾
The EV1020XP9-UC is engineered exclusively for the Challenger EV1020 inground cassette-style lift system. It is not compatible with the EV1220, EV1520, EW Series, or competing manufacturers' inground lift platforms. Confirm your installed or ordered pre-kit model number before purchasing to ensure proper fit and function.
Is a QuickCycle (QC) upgrade available? ▾
Yes. This package includes the standard 2 HP motor with a 41-second rise time. The QuickCycle upgrade (model EV1020XP9-UC-QC) replaces the 2 HP motor with a 3 HP motor that delivers full rise in 24 seconds. Both configurations run on 208-230V single-phase power with a 30A dedicated circuit. If faster cycle time is a priority for your express service operation, consider the QC model at the time of order.
What upgrades are available for this package? ▾
Challenger offers three upgraded configurations of the EV1020 XP9 upper components. The EV1020XP9-UC-BMC adds Bench Mount Controls that integrate raise, lower, and lock release functions at your workbench. The EV1020XP9-UC-QC adds the QuickCycle 3 HP motor for a 24-second rise time. The EV1020XP9-UC-BMC-QC combines both upgrades in a single package. Select the configuration that best matches your service bay workflow and throughput requirements.
What are the XP9 express pad dimensions? ▾
The XP9 platforms are 24" wide with three length positions: 58", 66-1/2", and 75". The distance between platforms is 31-1/2". The minimum deck height (top of deck or bolt) is 2-3/4", low enough for most passenger vehicles to drive directly onto the pads. Reinforced flip-up ramps lock in place to extend the platform and accommodate vehicles with longer wheelbases.
What are the electrical requirements? ▾
The 2 HP motor requires 208-230V, single-phase, 60Hz power on a dedicated 30A circuit with a circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. Three-phase options (208/230/460V) are available for facilities with 3-phase power. The power unit motor must be mounted at least 18" above the finished floor per National Electric Code NFPA70. A licensed electrician must install and verify the electrical supply meets all local codes.
What air supply is required? ▾
The lift requires 90-120 PSI compressed air that is clean, dry, lubricated, and pressure-regulated. The air supply must run through a Filter/Regulator/Lubricator (FLR) within 30 feet of the factory-assembled air valve. Failure to provide properly conditioned air voids the warranty on pneumatic components. Drain water from the air supply daily to prevent contamination of the lock release components.
What concrete is required for the pre-kit installation? ▾
The pre-kit (purchased separately) requires a minimum 4" thick reinforced concrete floor rated at 3,500+ PSI, fully cured for 28+ days. New construction requires a dedicated excavation per the installation manual. Existing facilities require a minimum 6' x 11' block-out or saw cut. The concrete must be finished and fully cured before the upper components in this package can be installed on top of the pre-kit foundation.
Is the completed EV1020 XP9 lift ALI/ETL certified? ▾
Yes. When the EV1020XP9-UC upper components are properly installed on a Challenger EV1020 CSPK pre-kit foundation, the completed lift system is ALI/ETL certified and designed to the ANSI/ALI ALCTV standard. This certification ensures the lift meets or exceeds industry safety requirements for professional automotive service facilities.
Can I use the completed lift outdoors? ▾
No. The EV1020 XP9 inground lift is rated for indoor use only within an ambient temperature range of 41 to 104 degrees F (5 to 40 degrees C). Outdoor installation is prohibited and will void the warranty. The pre-kit cassette, upper components, and all hydraulic and electrical systems are designed for climate-controlled indoor service environments.
